Give Every Lead a Next Step and Never Lose a Follow-Up

Updated October 28, 2026·Following Up·Share on X

Most leads go cold because nobody decided what happens next. Conference Hero gives every lead a next step: one task with a date and a person, shown at the top of the lead.

Set a next step

Open a lead. The Next step card sits at the top of the Overview tab and tells you where things stand: overdue, due today, scheduled, or none yet.

  1. Click Set next step.
  2. Type what happens next, or leave it blank for "Follow up with ".
  3. Pick when: Tomorrow, In 3 days, Next week, In 2 weeks, or a date.
  4. Pick who does it (you by default).

The next step is a regular task. You'll find it on the lead's Tasks tab and on the Tasks board.

What's next?

When you mark a lead's task done, Conference Hero asks What's next for ? Pick a new date, snooze the lead, or say no next step is needed. Skip it if you're not sure yet.

Snooze a lead

Not now, but maybe later? Click Snooze on the Next step card and pick 1 month, 3 months, 6 months or a date. Add a reason if you like ("Budget opens in Q3"). You can also cancel their open tasks while you're at it.

The lead drops out of your follow-up lists until the date, then shows up under Back from snooze on Home. Wake up now ends a snooze early.

No next step needed

Some leads don't need a follow-up at all. Click No next step needed and pick a reason: Not relevant right now, Not a fit, Already a customer, Wrong person, Asked us not to follow up, or type your own.

The lead stays in your workspace, but it no longer shows as missing a next step or going quiet. Turn back on undoes it. This doesn't stop email: use Do Not Email for that.

My follow-ups on Home

The My follow-ups card on Home lists your leads that need attention:

  • Overdue and Due today: next steps past or on their date
  • Hot, no next step: hot leads nobody has planned anything for
  • Quiet 14+ days: no touch in 14 days and no next step
  • Back from snooze: snoozes that just ended

Follow up tomorrow, right at the booth

On the lead scanner page, tick Follow up tomorrow before you save a lead. A next step for the next day is created for you, so the lead is on your list before you leave the booth.

Find leads by next step

On the Leads page, open Filters and use Next step: Overdue, Due today, Scheduled, No next step, Quiet 14+ days, Snoozed or No next step needed. Save it as a view to check it every morning.
